FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY BEGINS A CENTURY OF WAR.
In the days of China's Eastern Han Dynasty, the young emperor's power was
suppressed by an evil regent as traitorous eunuchs plunged the court into
chaos. The Han bloodline weakened, and the land was split amongst the strong.
It was a chaotic era when bones filled the fields and fires were seen for
thousands of miles. From the flames emerged the brilliant Cao Cao, the
warm-hearted Liu Bei, the wise Sun Quan, the powerful Lü Bu and the
tyrant Dong Zhuo. From beginnings both low and high, these men rose to power
in the third century to compete for the prize: the throne of China.
From the pages of history begins a century of war. The battle, one sure to
split the sky and break the earth, is now unstoppable...

Jiangdong, his son never achieved the glory that was expected.”

Sun Ce was the eldest son of Sun Jian, the elder brother of Sun Quan. He was
only seventeen when his father died. As a youth, Sun Ce was sharp and keen on
making friends. After gathering several hundred private soldiers, he abandoned
Yuan Shu's command to avenge his father.
Recognizing that he could not win the trust of Yuan Shu, he left again and
fought his way through Jiangdong, laying the foundation of Sun Wu's future
occupation.
Sun Ce knew how to spot and use talented people. He personally invited
Zhang Zhao and Zhang Hong to help him. His character became widely known after
he subdued Taishi Ci, a general under Liu Yao. Their battle began evenly
matched, though Sun Ce lost his helmet early on. Eventually, he won the fight
fairly. Later on, Sun Ce defeated Liu Yao and captured Taishi Ci. Sun Ce felt
Taishi Ci was brave, so he untied the man and made him an officer.
However, Sun Ce had a fatal flaw: he could not tolerate those whose fame was
greater than his own. At that time, there was a famous scholar named Gao Dai
in the Yuyao area. He was known by others for studying ancient texts from the
Spring and Autumn Period. When Sun Ce was discussing some topics with him, he
purposely refused to answer. Because of this, Sun Ce had him executed.
Later, when Sun Ce suffered wounds in battle and took out a mirror to see
himself, he disliked how pale he looked and became angry. The rage caused his
wounds to reopen and he bled to death. He died at the age of 26.
Sun Ce fought hard to take control of Jiangdong. He excelled in war and
politics. However, his hasty behavior and insular attitude brought him a
shameful and early death.
